Let's apply Dr. Stone's scale of evil to General Zaroff....can we reach a consensus? Be certain to explain at which number you set him, what the number is, and why you set him there. Support your ideas with both the text and logic.
Zaroff is definitely a psychopath. He finds enjoyment in killing humans, which is completely psychotic. I would rank him at number 14. He is a self centered weirdo who kills people to fulfill is own pleasures. He is a schemer, because he makes this murder a game. He enjoys when his prey gives him a challenge which is crazy. There is no doubt that Zaroff is a psychopath.
I would put Zaroff in the same area as Katherine. I agree with putting him in 14 because of the he schemed things. Also becaise of the fact that he got pleasure out of ending peoples lives. I would put him in 15 though because of his psychopathic characteristics and the fact that he comitted multiple murders.
I ranked Zaroff at 20 because even though he does not physically torture his victims, he mentally does. Throwing someone in an unknown jungle, with only the basic neccessities (spelling?)can really traumatize a person. And Zaroff definetly shows psychopathic traits because he enjoys killing humans and he does not consider it murder, when it clearly is.
i also believe Zaraff is a definite psychopath. i think he is a number 14. he is selfish and plans his games for fun. he makes up plans on how to kill for his games and he has fun killing other. he enjoys a good challenge. he is a psycho!!!
Zaroff is 100% psycho! He needs to be put into a straight jacket! I would rank him at number twenty as well because Zaroff does torture the humans with his mind, the way he throws them into the jungle. When he kills them he doesn't consider it murder which makes he a psycho. Also he get JOY out of killing humans so that aslo shows he deserves to be locked up in the nut house.
I also put General ZArroff at number fourteen because he is definatly a psycopath. Also, he is very self-centered because he has his guest play the game or face Ivan. He also says that it is his duty to hunt. He thinks he is doing the right thing. This is shows that he is a phychopath and self-centerd.
At first, it may seem that General Zaroff is a pyschopath. I somewhat agree, but if you think about it and look into his past, he was somewhat normal compared to how he is now. He used to hunt animals just as Rainsford did and I doubt that anyone thought Rainsford was insane at the beginning of the story. I think what made Zaroff so crazy was living on that dark and dangerous island. The jungle is primitive and wild, so it may have had some influence in making Zaroff who he is now. As he is shown in the story, I think Zaroff should be ranked at number 16, because he comits multiple vicious acts. Yes, he does kill people, and that can count as a vicious act, but he also puts people through the agony of being hunted, which is a vicious act as well. Even having to train and get fit is nerve-racking; knowing you will eventually die/be killed.
Zaroff is an individual i would rank at 15. He is clearly a psychopath who is on one continuous killing spree which he considers "hunting". But Im fairly certain that WW 1 had a drastic effect on his psyche and altered him for the worse just as it altered Rainsford.
I would rank General Zaroff at 15. My reasoning behind this is the fact that he is "cold-blooded". General Zaroff does not feel remorse for his victims. Zaroff also commits multiple murders. Any one that views human beings as game that is fair to hunt is definitely psycopathic.
I would agree with Katie. Zaroff is a 20. Zaroff got pleasure in killing humans. He would play with their minds and test their ability against him for enjoyment. HE is a psychopath murderer.
I think Zaroof is definitely a psycopath. If I were to rank Zaroff in Dr. Stone's scale of evil, I would rank him a 14, ruthlessly self-centered, psychopathic schemers. I thought this fit Zaroff because the whole reason why he hunts men is because he wants more fun and I consider taking someone else's life for enjoyment to be selfish. I also think he is a schemer because of the way he created the island and the game and getting prey.
There is no doubt that Zaroff is a psychopath. He kills humans to challenge himself and it makes him happy. Normal people are not pleased by killing humans. I would rank him a 14 too because he is selfish for hunting and killing people as a challenge for himself. He is a schemer becaue he plans out what he will give the people before he hunts them and he plans out where the people will get stuck on his island.
I would put Zaroff as a 15 because he isn't that much self-centered. This is because he only kills people as a game when he is hunted, and he tries to be kind to people outside of that. He is cold-blooded since he doesnt feel that what he is doing is wrong. He commits many murders, but still does not feel any remorse so clearly is psychopathic.
I would definatly put General Zaroff under number 14 as well. I believe that he is an all around psychopath and cares about nobody but himself. This makes him self centered. He kills humans! This would easily give away that he is a psycho! He also can care less about anybody but himself. For example, when Ivan was killed by one of Rainsford's clever traps, Zaroff showed no sorrow or care what-so-ever. So yes, Zaroff is a psychopathic maniac killer and woulod eaily fit into number 14 on Dr. Stone's scale.
Zaroff is definitely a psychopath! I would rank him at 20 also. He tortures people by capturing them on his island only to keep them and train them for a hunting game where they are being hunted! He likes making his prey somewhat competitive so that it is more fun. Zaroff is crazy!

I agree with Tom because Zaroff definitaly is a 14 because hes a ruthlessly self- centered psychopathic schemer.
