While I cannot invite you into the 8th grade classrooms, you know how much I value your opinions and experience in the class. What would you like to advise (or warn!) your 8th grade peers? Any tips for handling summer reading? How can they learn from your successes and mistakes?
Please remain appropriate! (Oh...and Nick, please try not to insult me too much, ok? :-) )

Honestly guys, you might be scared to go into Miss Arney's class but seriously it is/was my favorite class of the day and im not just saying that to stay on her good side! it is alot of work but if you manage your time good then you shouldnt have a problem...and be prepared to laugh alot!!!
I SO~~~~~ AGREE WITH KELLY!!!!!!!!!!!
i love miss arney's class and so sad that i won't have her next year.......
it really is a lot of work but managing time really helps especially with the homework sheet...
laughing is a key in Miss Arney's english class...... hahaha
don't leave mythology to the last minute.....
that can and most likely will "KILL YOU!!!"
also... i tried making family trees to help with the characters for mythology....
yea... that didn't work.
Zeus took about 7 pages....
just read mytholody and take in the mojor ideas...
Yeah for summer reading I would definetley suggest taking notes. Yeah it's summer and no one wants to do notes none-the-less read it, but it will help you sooo much during the year.
yeah just dont wait til the last second to read mythology. Even though you go over so much of it during school, its much easier to understand it beforehand. And there was a quiz within the first week of school, so study that gods and goddesses sheet that you probably got in your summer reading packet.
At first to kill a mocking bird seems like a bboring book...but if you actually try to read it and not just let your eyes see the words and let them fall out of you brain, then its a good book, especially when you disect it in miss arneys class. her class was by a landslide my favorite,,,shes a great teacher and i am such a better writer now! it mayt be alot of work but its not always over whelming...and again..LAUGH!!
i suggest doing the extra credit questions for mythology because it will help you understand when you are reading, it will help you understand when you are going over mythology in class and it will give you extra credit.
I have learned more in Miss Arney's class than in any other class. It is, no doubt, a lot of work, but it is so rewarding. I always look forward to her class and I will miss it so much next year. There will be a lot of laughs, and inside jokes, and some just plain wierd moments, but you'll get used to it. Although you will learn more than you can believe, it won't fell like it because you will be having the time of your life. Good luck and get ready to join the best class you will ever take!
(Also don't wait to read mythology and take notes on it, you'll regret it!)
i agree that should not leave any assignment to the last minute. do as much extra credit as you can. also, go to extra help if you can they help a lot. this class is a lot of work and it will help in the long run. it is a great class and don't get intimidated by the summer reading work.
Everyone says that this class is hell, but it really isn't. It's actually fun. If you manage your time well, you'll get the work done. For summer reading, make sure you take notes on mythology. Also, I wouldn't read it first, because you might forget stuff. I read it about 3 days before school started; don't do that either.
for summer reading, i suggest getting mythology out of the way first. then move on to to kill a mockingbird and then and then there were none because that way, you have the hardest parts done first. and then there were none is an eaasy read (brain candy as miss arney calls it) so save that for last. however, make sure that you take good notes on mythology so that you dont forget it all by the time school starts. and dont worry; i know everyone says that this class is a lot of work, but personally i didnt think it was as bad as everyone said it would be. just make sure you stay ahead of the work and dont save it for the last minute because then it will be impossible to do.
Procrastinating is your worst enemy. Enough said.
well if i cant insult you why would i bother writing? =P but Pretty much just do the opposite of what I did this whole year lol dont procrastinate, dont sit in class waiting for miss arney to explain everything(you hafta ask sometimes), Definetly pay attention in class, dont wait until the last 3 weeks of summer to begin reading the summer reading, dont get on miss arneys bad side to early in the year, keep your binders orgainized, do not lose any of the handouts, use all old quizzes and tests to study from, pay attention when taking notes from the smart board, (dont just copy them down, listen to what she says as well because she gives good explainations) and DO NOT be afraid of Miss Arney. she only eats 2 or 3 students per year, so chances are its not going to be you.
I suggest studying old vocab tests. They are all the same format and Ms. Arney tends to repeat questions. Also, go into the class with a good attitude because that will make the class seem so much more relaxed.
the most important thing to do is overcome your prejudice for the class. if you think it is hard it will be. i remember i was scared going into miss arney's class. however, this was the best english class i ever had and i am going to miss it next year.
i agree with kathleen. i don't know where all the scary, bad things about miss arney came from, but if you have heard any of that, don't believe it. it is not as hard as everyone told me it would be, but that does not mean that it is an easy class that where you don't need to pay attention. miss arney is one of the best teachers i have ever had, and i will REALLY miss her and this class next year
:(
Just remember that Dante is a purlple lama.
I suggest that for summer reading you should not read Greek Mythology first but DO NOT leave it for the last few days of summer! Miss Arneys class was definetly alot of hard work but you will have alot of great times and laughs in this class. Miss Arneys class was definetly my favorite class ever and i am going to miss it so much!
Enjoy this year with Ms. Arney cuz its gonna flyyyy by. Word of advice: dont be mean...dont call any1 stupid or tell them to shut up because she doesnt like that..she'll take off points from ur average. Seriously enjoy the year while you can. I'm actually gonna miss some aspects of the class. Ms. Arney's great..and im not saying that to suck up becuase im done with her already which means i'm done sucking up (jk ms. arney luv u). Dont procrastinate and u guys will do fine good luck and get ready to laff ur *$# off! :-)
