do you use a quote for both daily reflections?

Miss Arney said...

yes!

melissa colodner said...

for the R&J daily reflection...i remember talking about how the story could end "happy ever after" but now i cant remember where it could have happened and in what scenes...could you give a general area where it could change?

Kathleen Coleman said...

For the journal how many concrete details need to be quotes in each paragraph?

Katie Yorke said...

For the journal I forgot if you put an example critical lense online or if it is just in your notes. If you did where can you find it?

Nicole Fornabaio said...

whats the grammar review on the hw for tonight? I was just wondering if things got switched because of the debate...

Kathleen Coleman said...

Also for the journal what is the genre of Jekyll and Hyde?

Nicole Fornabaio said...

i have the same questions as kathleen and katie... how many quotes in each paragraph... and where can we find a sample critical lens?

melissa colodner said...

where can we find the example critical lens essay that was up for the mid-term and the examples of how to REACT?

maria kohlbrenner said...

Do the concrete deatils need to be quotes?

Katie Yorke said...

for the body paragraphs is it the 11 sentence format?

Miss Arney said...

No - you only need 1 quote in each paragraph
Yes, 11 sentence model...
the critical lens intro is posted on the website.
Good luck with the journal, everyone!

Elisha McGinnis said...

its 3 paragraphs right? and im not sure of the format for the last two paragraphs.
is it just put one quote in each paragraph that explains how the character we chose supports the quote you gave us?

Tom Higgins said...

When is the Grammar test?

Tom Higgins said...

Do we not have to do the connect part of the REACT in the intro, since we're not connecting it to two peice of literature?

maria kohlbrenner said...

when are we going to get the notes for romanticism? is it going to be on the test tomorrow?

Miss Arney said...

All you need to remember is: science bad; nature good! that will be enough for tomorrow (I promise).

Katie Yorke said...

for the movie poster I can not find a physical despcription of Lanyon. Do you know where this is in the book?

Miss Arney said...

I don't have my book home with me, Katie; try the chapters with the dinner parties that he attended (or the chapter when Utterson visits him and he is sick)

Nicole Fornabaio said...

Katie, i found for Lanyo that he is dapper, red faced wwith white hair, but i forget what page it was on. I am having trouble finding more of a physical description of Mr Utterson. All i have is that he is lean, long, rugged, middle aged and never smiles. I can't think of an actor for him because I don't know much about him physically.

Katie Yorke said...

Thanks Nicole and I also found for utterson that even though he had a cold face he was still loveable.

Nicole Fornabaio said...

ok thanks Katie!

Yena said...

i am not going to lie...
that class today was a waste of time..
i would have loved to watch jurassic park...
the sub just made up his own schedule today because he didn't feel like watching jurasic park...
.............

melissa colodner said...

i totally agree Yena.
Miss Arney what should we do for homework..since there is no schedule.

Miss Arney said...

OMG OMG OMG: I am SEETHING! I'm so sorry, guys. Did this happen in the other classes?

Yena said...

i don't think so..
apparently... the other classes got to see the movie...
i was really angry today...
i was looking foward to watching the movie....
now... we are a day behind right?

Elisha McGinnis said...

did we just have to read act 2 of romeo and juliet? also, is tonights homework to just work on the essay?

Katie Yorke said...

im no really sure how to organize my essay so would you think it is a good idea to do one body paragraph about J&H the second about JP and then compare them in the third?

Miss Arney said...

You should be addressing 2 thematic concepts and a consequence in your thesis.
That means, each concepts is proven in the body paragraphs (2 & 3) using EACH work in each paragraph; par 4 is the consequence (tragedy; destruction; etc) for EACH work.

Katie Yorke said...

okay thank you

amelia marino said...

Miss Arney, after writing my introduction for the essay, I realized we never got our Jekyll and Hyde books back!! I'll try doing what I can without it though.

Katherine McLaughlin said...

Should we get quotes online for Jekyll and Hyde since we don't have our books?

Do have to entirely finish Lord of the Flies by 6/5 and do we have to do the study guide?

Brenden Bateman said...

Miss Arney said...

Julie DeSimone said...

Elisha McGinnis said...

does the teams and clubs count as one page in the 5 pg requirement or 2? Also, do you need 5 teams or clubs in total or 5 for each?

Elisha McGinnis said...

MS. ARNEY!! elisha, lauren and i need to make pizza bites but we can't until we've finished teams and clubs so please please answer us as soon as possible before we starve

love claire :)

Miss Arney said...

Um, you could have called me for the answer rather than starve your poor little selves!
Teams are one; clubs are another.
Enjoy your pizza bites, my munchkins!

Elisha McGinnis said...

thank you! don't worry we didn't starve :]

<3,
claire, lauren and elisha

maria kohlbrenner said...

we're allowed to hand in a homework pass for journals right?

melissa colodner said...

can we make up our own pages for the year book? i mean not use something on the list of requirements.

Nicole Fornabaio said...

For the yearbook, Kathleen, Katherine, and I are working together. We want to do the soundtrack and use it in our yearbook for quotes. Can we do the soundtrack together then? I know it has to be sumbitted separately Friday, but can we do it together and hand in one sheet with all our names Friday?

Tommy Sheridan said...

If we want to hand in our "creative h.w. excuse" journal for extra credit and to put in the class yearbook, do we have to print it single spaced?

Julie DeSimone said...

My facebook status is...Oedipus Rex is how could you accuse me of such a cruel act.

Nicole Fornabaio said...

will there be a grammar challenge for this week?

Nicole Fornabaio said...

Fot the teams/clubs pictures, we don't have to have captions, right?

Katie Yorke said...

Is the study guide for LoF mandatory?

maria kohlbrenner said...

all the extra credit was due on fri. right? so we cant do any more recitations of R&J?

Miss Arney said...

captions not necessary

Maria: as you were sick, I will let you recite up to Tuesday.

study guide is NOT mandatory! I would advise working on those quote pages for R&J -- they are on the final

Katie Yorke said...

okay thanks

Rajat Rao said...

Does anyone know if we can use Jurassic Park in our Yearbooks?

Miss Arney said...

Yes, Raj!

Rajat Rao said...

Thanks Miss Arney! Just making sure

Elisha McGinnis said...

For the outline of the essay, doesn't the play say its both a tradgedy and fate. since its called the tradgedy of Romeo and Juliet, but also it says they are star-crossed lovers and fate pulls them apart so im kind of confused.

Miss Arney said...

Elisha:
That's the point....the prologue contradicts itself. If it is a true Aristotlean tragedy, Romeo's flaws are the primary direct cause of the deaths at the end. If they are star-crossed lovers, bad luck / fate is the primary cause.
You decide which you feel had the stronger pull.

Nicole Fornabaio said...

Is there any way we can figure oout a time, even 10 minutes, to see other peoples yearbooks? I have been hearing about them and I want to see them. Is it possible to come at lunch one day or something?

Nicole Fornabaio said...

O and is it possible if you have time, to put up a final grammar challenge for this week? As a last one :(

maria kohlbrenner said...
